Ridgewood Post Office consists of a team of competent, committed and experienced employees. Allow us to introduce them to you on this page.
Jon and Sue have been the proprietors of Ridgewood Post Office since August 1986
Jon came from an engineering background and Sue from an office environment.
Neither had any experience of running a business but rose to the challenge and continue to ensure the viability of the business. Sue runs the Outreach Post Office in High Hurstwood Village Hall on a Tuesday afternoon from 2.00pm to 4.00pm while Jon runs the Outreach at the Nutley Arms on Tuesdays from 10.00am to 12.00 mid-day and also the one at the Laughing Fish in Isfield on a Thursday morning from 10.00am to 12.00 mid-day.
Karen started at the Post Office in September 2006. She had previously worked at the Uckfield Branch of Tesco's.
She works on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. She helps to run the Outreach Post Office at The Laughing Fish Pub in Isfield which is open from 10.00am to 12.00 mid-day. Karen runs another Outreach on a Friday morning at Chelwood Gate Village Hall from 10.00am to mid-day.
Jenny has worked in the retail sector for most of her working life, starting out at British Home Stores in Tunbridge Wells and then Habitat.
She then worked for Post Office Limited initially as a counter clerk, moving on to training Postmasters and finally managing a number of branches.
After taking time out to raise her family Jenny has had a number of jobs which included working in Holly Gap Farm Shop before joining us at the Post Office.
Alice joined us as a career change from working as cabin crew for British Airways. She has quickly learnt all aspects of the business and carries out many duties from opening the shop and setting it up for the day, going to cash and carry to operating the Outreach Post Office at the Nutley Arms on every alternate Tuesday morning.
She is also responsible for most of the Facebook/Instagram posts that you see.
Ryan has very recently joined our team as an apprentice. He has been covering holidays for us but in September, following his own holiday break, he will be starting his formal apprenticeship training.
Keith is our early morning news deliverer to the outlying areas of Halland, Isfield, Rose Hill and Buckham Hill.
Keith starts extremely early in the morning (Monday to Friday) and drives approximately 30 miles to ensure that our customers get their papers in time to read with their breakfast!
However, early mornings are no stranger to Keith as he is a retired Royal Mail employee so was used to very early morning starts.
As well as all the staff that work in the shop and Post Office, there is a small army of paper boys and girls who deliver papers every day of the week (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day). They are out in all weathers to ensure that our customers get their papers in time for breakfast.
They are all hard working and those that works Monday to Friday need to make sure they have enough time to get to school. The Saturday and Sunday delivers have to deal with the larger, heavier papers.
At various times, we stock a selection of yummy cakes made by Ruby Cakes, they usually sell out fast so check our facebook page to find out when they have arrived.
Stuck for the present for the person who has everything? Come and get a Post Office Gift Card. Redemable at the majority of high street shops.
